Unmatched Ranked Ladder
*All players are expected to read and adhere to the ladder rules outlined in this document*Introduction
Thank you all for showing interest in the Unmatched ranked play ladder! Our goal is to allow players to test themselves against others of a similar skill level, providing competitive play at your convenience. We want everyone to have a great experience and treat each other with respect. Please feel free to reach out to us on the UM League Discord with questions or comments.
Player Expectations
- Every player must have a UM League account. This is important for logging game results and keeping track of all player ranks. ***UML homepage link here***
- Results must be promptly entered into UM League. Winner of each game should enter the results immediately, and the loser must verify results before logging any further games.
- Players may use any platform they agree upon. This may range from Tabletop Simulator to Vorpal Board to In-Person play.
- Ranked games may only be played within your rank or 1 rank above/below. *Except Legend may only play Legend* This is to promote balanced play while also preventing the pool of opponents from becoming too small.
- Only 3 consecutive games may be played against the same opponent. After the max game limit has been reached, a new opponent must be selected. This is to promote inclusivity and community-building while also protecting the integrity of the ladder.
- Games must be played using fighters/maps that are legal for the current season. Each season will include a separate list of fighters and maps that are legal for use. Seasons will reset every 2 months and each player will be knocked back 2 ranks.
Ladder Ranks
There are 5 different ranks: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Hero, and Legend. Within each rank will be a different number of levels as follows:- Bronze- 2
- Silver- 3
- Gold- 4
- Hero- 5
- Legend- Unlimited
One point will be earned for each game win. If you are at the highest level in a rank, then gaining a point will advance you to the bottom of the next rank. For example if you are Bronze level 2 and win, then you become Silver level 1.
One point will be lost for each game loss. However, you cannot fall below your current rank. Therefore if you lose a game while you are Silver level 1, you will remain Silver level 1 as that is the lowest level in that rank.
Ranked Format
- Each match will be played as a single game / Best of 1.
- Each player will blind pick a fighter from the current season roster. In the case of a mirror (same fighters chosen) then that fighter is banned for that particular game.
- Players will roll a die and winner will receive map advantage. This player will choose any of the season-legal maps to be played on.
- The player without map advantage will receive position advantage. This player will choose their starting position for the game.
- Each player is allowed one full mulligan at the start of the game. After drawing starting hands, you may choose to shuffle all cards back into your deck and draw a new hand.
- Complete game following official Unmatched rules, except Defender REVEALS First. This is to avoid issues with an illegal card being played.
TTS Components
Due to legal restraints, we are unable to use licensed sets on TTS. However, we can provide a genericized copy of these sets for use if needed. If you have questions on how to use these, please reach out for assistance. Find these here:
TTS sets: Unmatched TTS pack*Note that when uploading characters into TTS, health dials may be blank. Simply upload another copy of the components before deleting the first and they should show*
Rulings
In the case of specific rulings questions throughout a game, first look through the official rulebook or check out the rulings archive found here: Unmatched Rulings Archive (Credit to wanderingcaretaker and Snuggles)
Feel free to post/search in the
- Restoration Games Discord: (https://discord.com/invite/j4k8VWv) or
- UM League Discord: (https://discord.gg/Pkpd39RnYb) for answers.
***DEADPOOL will have all βjokeβ card effects active. The Logan rule will be off. Yellow-ish space = ANY space. Holy Mackerel forces the opponent to reveal hand if all copies of the chosen card are not accounted for.
Illegal Plays/Penalties
Illegal plays will resolve differently based upon the type of card played:
- Scheme- Simply take the card back to hand and rewind gamestate.
- Attack- Card is discarded without effect and the action is lost. Defender chooses to either keep their defense card in hand or shuffle it into deck and draw another (without the knowledge of the offender)
- Defense- If policy was followed with Defender Reveals First: Simply take the card back to hand BEFORE the attack card is revealed and replay a new defense card if desired.
- Defense- If policy was not followed: Return the attack card to hand. Discard the defense card without effect. Replay the combat (the attacker may choose the same card or a new card to play face-down)
If too many cards are drawn on accident:
- Vorpal Board- Simply return all cards drawn to the deck, shuffle, and draw the correct amount. The cards spawn directly beneath the deck, so you are able to see that they didnβt get mixed with the playerβs current hand. (To reduce the chance of this happening, wait if there is a lag in card draw. Drawing multiple times can cause overdrawing cards).
- TTS- Use the REWIND button towards the top left of the screen to return to the gamestate before the incident, shuffle the deck, and draw the correct amount. **Note that this resets the health dials, so make note of current health before rewinding**
If a player states they are doing a βdouble maneuverβ and 2 cards are drawn at once: They have then forfeited the movement opportunity for their first maneuver and may only conduct movement for the second maneuver as they have already seen both cards, which could influence their positioning choices. Be sure to complete each action in full before taking your next action.
If there are complaints of un-sportsman-like conduct or cheating, penalties may be enforced at our discretion. These penalties may range from warnings, game losses, or even disqualification depending on the severity/frequency. Please treat everyone with respect and create a fun, worry-free environment for all involved!
For any other communications (questions, comments, complaints) about procedures, technical issues, etc. please reach out in the UM League Discord.
Special Thanks
Also thank you to all the community members who contributed to creating the ranked ladder system. And thanks to you, the players, for being such a great community and participating. This wouldnβt be possible without you all. Good luck, have fun, and we hope to see you on the battlefield. Remember, In battle, there are no equals!
